So recovering from having your ear chopped off (if we were face to face I would not be able to resist 'Can you hear me now?' lame jokes), and mentally preparing to be working does not a lady of leisure make. However. My roommate is a public interest chick like you (only, several years later since she's been a lawyer longer), and she just quit her public interest job to take a position at a big "real" law firm. Not as an associate with billable hours though - as a chick who makes sure there's diversity and that the firm isn't doing things that offend minorities and shit. Huge salary leap for her. Just something for you to keep in mind in case later on you want to earn more but still want to "do good shit." Oh and very huge good luck vibes on your first day!
