Inspired by Maggie, and turning 30, I started working on a life list a few weeks back. I’m traveling for a couple of weeks, but thought I’d post this while I’m gone to keep things interesting. Our latest installment: 21-30 on the list of things I’d like to do with my next 30 years.
21. Launch a side business doing dessert catering.
22. Skydive
23. Represent an asylum client
24. Publish something I’ve written in a professional journal
25. Donate more than $1000 to a cause in one fell swoop
26. Tip a waitress 100%
27. Meet the band
28. Do a yoga headstand
29. Finish the Sunday NYTimes crossword, in ink
30. Run a mile in under 7 minutes
i would like to #22 and #25, please.
I bet if you asked John to really push you hard in training, you could get #30 done within two months.
Wow. You are brave. Of course you’ll have to be careful not to eat too many of the desserts you cater or that 7-minute mile will get really tough.
If you want to practice #21 I’m readily available
I tipped 100% once, a couple of months after I’d first moved to FL, at an IHOP of all places. During my meal I’d gone to the bathroom and overheard my waitress standing nearby talking into the phone near tears telling someone she needed his child support money for their kid before the first day of school.
My bill was under $10 and I left a $20 and walked out. I always got really good service there any time I went back.
Do it. It will feel absolutely as good as you think it will.
22: Let’s do it. This summer.
25: Can I introduce you to a fabulous little organization we like to call KIPP?
30: Me too, me too!
